Beginner Sessions - Yang Style
Excellent for students new to Tai Chi, or students with experience who want to work on fundamental principles. We focus on structure building exercises and the Yang-style short form. The short form provides a solid foundation of the core principles of Tai Chi, including how to hang from crown-point, how to weight the elbows and life-gate, and how to open and close the structure.
Advanced Sessions - Chen Style
This type of session is recommended for individuals with prior training in Tai Chi who wish to further develop their internal capacities. We work through the Chen-style long form to develop reeling, drawing, relaxed connection, and internal power generation.
Martial Application Sessions - Rolling Hands and Grounding
For students with a special interest in the use of Tai Chi as a martial practice, we can focus on the partner exercises of grounding and rolling hands to develop useful techniques for sparring and self defense. We emphasize listening power, rooting and uprooting, and a variety of techniques for attaching weak points.
Mindfulness Application Sessions - Cultivation Exercises
For students who want to focus on the mindful aspects of Tai Chi training, we offer sessions centered around exercises used to permeate mind into the body. These activities can provide a variety of benefits by developing an internal equilibrium and a stronger felt relationship between the physical body and the conscious self, allowing the mind and body to aid each other in flourishing.
